FOOD

From both an ecological and ethical perspective, going completely planted-based is far superior than eating meat or fish

Imagine sitting in a beautifully decorated restaurant and eating a 5-course menu. The waiters are in a good mood, everything is perfect. Next to you, trendy people dine. The atmosphere is exuberant. Everything is framed with a hip and announced DJ, who introduces enchanting sounds of lounge music into the graceful ambience.

Can you imagine that all ingredients of the food have been carefully and respectfully selected?

Unfortunately, we eat very unconsciously and are not very concerned about the influence of food on our health, the impact on climate change, but also on sustainability and animal welfare in general:

  • Animal agriculture is responsible for 18% of greenhouse emissions, more than the combined exhaust from all transportation.
  • 26% of the earth’s terrestrial surface is used for animal farming.
  • It is responsible for over 90% of the destruction of the Amazons.
  • One hamburger requires 2’500 liters of water to produce – the equivalent of two months ‘worth of showers.

New plant-based products like Beyond Burgers and Planted Chicken taste so similar to beef or chicken that most people cannot tell the difference, and are similarly high in protein, making a mental shift to plant-based eating much easier.

If you can eat tasty menus, if everything looks delicious, if it is proven to be healthier and makes sense from an ethical and ecological perspective, then there should be nothing to stop you from trying it at least once.

The goal here is to be open-minded, to try something new, to experience alternative suggestions.

“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be measured by how its animals are treated.”
